My, My, My, opening day at the Royal Ascot races. Much like our Kentucky Derby, the ladies all don an elaborate hat of some sort for the occasion. Some were a little elaborate than most.....you can certainly tell that many take their hat choices seriously. Check out the hat with the horses "circling". In addition there the Royal enclosure dress code which lists certain items or looks that are not to be worn to the races. As you will see from the "faux pas" portion, (although many of you might think of them all as a fashion faux pas) many of the ladies did not adhere to the dress code. Just a few of the things that are frowned upon are: bearing visible tan lines, Baring "too much leg", mini dresses, any midriff bearing, and trouser suits which are not "full length and of matching material and color. Next year they will probably add the wearing of "undies" to that list. That picture is yet to come....it is almost one of those "hey get a room" type pictures. Princess Beatrice (Pic 5), Princess Anne (pic 19) and designer Luella Bartley (pic 7...she looks as though she is extremely tired....she probably is...such is the life of a designer). The looks that have been termed Fashion faux pas, start with the chick in the black hat and floral strapless dress with has "assets" spilling over. While I would question many of the outfits worn, I think the red sequin dress with the thigh slit would be first on my list.
